Welcome To The WOB Booksites

Demo Store

This home page header is your chance in 3-5 sentences to introduce your business and website to your visitors.

Welcome to the WOB BookSite Website and Control Panel Demo.

To view the Control Panel click this link: Demo Control Panel and log in with test test.

You will not be able to save any changes but you will be able to see how and where I set up the demo website.

Configuring you Home Page is very important to a website.  It typically is the 1st page your customers will see.

Your home page can be text, featured items or a combination of both.

The Control Panel area to edit the Home page offers ultimate flexibility.

It consists of 6 Text Boxes… 3 rows of 2 columns.

While it sounds complicated it really is not.  The reason to have so many is so you can mix and match 2 columns with 1 column on the same page like in this example.

If you wish just a single column of text/featured items for your whole home page you would just put it all in the upper left text box.

If you wish just 2 columns of text/featured items down your home page you would just use the upper 2 text boxes.

You only use text boxes 3-6 if you are mixing styles.

On this demo website we are using all styles.

The top row consists of all this text spread across the whole page.

The 2nd row contains a featured book in both the left and right columns.

The 3rd row again spreads across the whole page and shows some different styles of featured books.

The right column is a good place to place ads if you decide to show ads on your website.

There is always a debate on whether it is a good idea to place ads on an eCommerce website.

One camp claims that selling your own inventory is always more profitable then sending the user off your website and maybe receiving 5-10% affiliate commission.

The other side believes that only a small percent of your visitors will buy from you no matter what and if you have a chance to gain a little profit then take it.

I tend to fall in the later camp as long as any advertisements are related to your business (books) and are muted… they shouldn’t overpower the rest the page.  A page full of ads will turn off your visitors.

Google Adsense (Google Adsense)) is not a bad choice since they will show ads relevant to the page they are shown on and the look of the ads can be customized to fit in with the rest of the website.
